Dubbed the Mobile Device Security research and development project, the collaborative effort seeks to improve mobile device and network cybersecurity, as well as develop mobile device instrumentation, transactional security methods, mobile security management tools and mobile device layer protection.
Spokesman John Verrico said that within two years, S&T hopes to provide progressive tools and technologies to accelerate the adoption and use by agencies of secure mobile technologies.
DHS held a kick-off meeting on Aug. 25 to showcase the MDS project to federal stakeholders. The goal of the meeting "was to showcase the R&D projects while engaging closely with our stakeholders to understand each agency's mobility challenges," Verrico said.
The partners include HRL Laboratories, Northrop Grumman, Kryptowire, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Rutgers University, Intelligent Automation and United Technologies Research Center.
